This book is what I perceive to be as a surprise. On first view, I just saw nature; imagining a collective artistry of creators, yet I came across artists inside who I knew well, making it such an interesting read as I was now connecting their individual practices to one common genre.
Lets start at the beginning…Kaffe Fasste is not the first artist who comes to my mind in conjunction with this book, yet turn to page ten and then maybe you too will understand why he has been used. Natural forms can often bring to mind a colour array of greens, browns and neutrals. Yet think again, the flowers, the life of birds and animals…a rainbow….so of course Kaffe is perfect for this praise worthy area of writing which has been awarded to him.
I mentioned the books recognisable names; here I was alluding to the artists who are used as a part of this collection. Actually yes I do know many of the names and smile in understanding when I see them…i.e. Alice Fox….of course! (She authored the Batsford publication Wild Textiles) Yet this book also contains names who are new, which makes it a book I am curios to read.
With lovely often panoramic photograph illustrations, as well as detailed insight into the aspects of nature inspired creativity, this is definitely a grounding and observe worthy publication. The transitory relationship between what particular aspect of nature has inspired the individual artist in connection with visual outcome has been well documented and portrayed to this books readership with real eye bearing flare.

Fifteen makers are included…so could you be the next one, the sixteenth? Go outside, look around you and it will not be hard to be inspired by something, be it a pavement pattern or a local woods. Feel involved and inside the conversations happening right now via these artists, be a part of the nature art tribe today…
