I remember experimenting with this method during my degree studies, but it never occurred to me what materials could be used. I was very stuck on the fabric side of things, yet this title pushes this medium into a number of projects. Imagine necklaces, (using this technique on the hard surface of clay), lampshades….oh and yes fabric.
This author makes the learning side exciting rather than too complex to begin.
I enjoyed the honesty found near the end on pages 99, where this artist gives us advice what to do when things do not go s expected.
Sometimes I have found in the past that it is difficult to learn something from a book, at times we need in person tuition to explain a process. However with this one, I think it is possible to try it out on our own.
What I like about this method, is that yes we are all learning the one same technique, yet it will be up to our own choice what pattern to create, it is not something all need copy the same. For example I used my own lace in years gone by and my own drawings to work from.
Even the question we will not want to ask is printed, namely ‘What is Cyantype?’.
