Embroidery Garden
Artful Designs Inspired By Nature
Yanase Rei
I read many titles which begin with the word embroidery. They are all a little different of course, however most are set in a certain form, we know much of what we are getting, before we open the cover as it were. This book by Yanase Rei alters that view. I believe it is due to her cultural setting. Yes I read many a book on repair by Japanese authors, they are wonderful at this topic area, yet I have not read as many which are subject related to embroidery itself.
The designs are unique, inspired by the world around her. Encouragement is given to recapture the moments of mindful finding within your own out-space - gardens, walks in nature…wherever you will find the florals and green themed requirements to nourish your stitched work.
There are twenty-nine embroiery patterns, in a mix of shades and themes. There are also six final projects, where you will see an outcome for your hard hands work. They span from bookmarks to hairbands. No, nothing new here, yet her designs make them feel refreshed in subject matter.
A complete list of what is required is provided, so you are ready and tooled up to begin your experinments. I would ask you to view this book as a springboard, a strengthening foundation of learning from which you can begin to collaborate your own ideas from your own experiences.
Can you use your own walks to bring in nature?
Oh one last thing; please make the embroidered bow ties!
