20 Felt Flowers To Make

This ‘20 to make’ idea is a series with all different subject areas included by Search Press. This publication sits in a stable hardback cover at a small but mighty (Approx A5) size; making it an ideal travel companion.
Content wise, the book covers so many flower types, guiding us through clearly dedicated and explained projects to create flowers in yes, felt. This book is not designed to be about how to make the felt fabric itself, nor how to dye the wool roving you would have to use to create the felt in the first place. This is all about the flower, the building the stitching aspects, using pre-made felt fabric.
As an artist, I have dabbled in making felt, dyeing felt and yes creating the odd floral offering using these mediums. So I was able to understand exactly where this book was coming from thematically and techniques wise. Sometimes we all need a helping hand, I do not see the fact that this doesn’t deal with making felt a problem at all, as that is a separate skill in itself.
The contents begins with a materials list, as some items you may have to buy in advance, for example you may have felt fabric and plenty embroidery threads, but you might not automatically store wire, particularly the type required for floristry art. How quaint - the type of wire you would use in real floral and fauna displays is twinned here to become a part of your felt driven flower creations.
Many of us would not know how to draw a template or feel strong enough in confidence to do so, so all the templates are included at the back of the book.
