This simple little book is an ideal turn to for anyone who wants to either learn stitch types or who need to refresh their memories. I know when I go back to teaching the embroidery basics to students, I often need to remind myself how to do certain stitches. So this book is ideal, the author Coline was into costume design to begin with, so she has brought that experiance into this little book. There is four parts to this one, what we need, the little suggestions for finishing off etc, the stitch guide in itself, which covers everything from Running Stitch to a more complex Shaded Satin Stitch. Finally we have the…what now section. There has to be a a point to learn in the first place, we will all have our reasons. What is yours? A few suggestions are given, but it is my hope that now you have been given the education, you will be strengthened to fly your own way and develop your own reasons for wanting to learn embroidery basics.
Photography wise, it has all been shot with a similar look, a focus on the stitches, no complex backgrounds to distract or muddy the waters. The plain backgrounds helps us to focus on the threads and directions. Plenty of diagrams too.
On a final note, its worth noting that this book is a hardback, yet its tiny size allows it to be easy to travel with too - one less reason to google eh!
