The Wind In The Willows Felt Friends, written by Cynthia Treen, D&C 2022
Sometimes we all need to feed our needs for warmth and familiarity with something which may remind us of our own childhood or our children’s. Sometimes we all need to just indulge ourselves in something classic, not twee, simply joyous. I believe that Green’s take on Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind In The Willows fits this requirement perfectly. I imagine winter spring afternoons and evenings, ensconced in blankets with tea on the side, happily learning how to hand-stitch these characters, which Green depict in felt wool fabrics. This book will guide you through each characters creation, with the added highlight of teaching us how to add a posable element to our creations via interior wire armatures. Beginners are welcome, with all the basic sewing instructions supplied, as well as the more advanced methods. Smile over Mr Toad and delight in dressy-up play which you make up the little outfits they are set to wear. Detailed diagrams and images are all illustrated, along with full-size patterns for each project. The question is…who to create first? The choice is yours.
